Important Reminders From Klumpp’s

To get the most out of your fine leather goods…

  • Always hang leather coats on a wide padded hanger

  • Do not store leather goods in plastic bags or other non-porous covers- always allow for ventilation

  • Allow wet or damp leather to air-dry naturally away from any source heat

  • Apply a little conditioner, such as Lexol (available at Klumpps) when leather is nearly dry to restore flexibility

  • Promptly remove salt deposits from shoes and boots in winter. You can do this by sponging with clear water, then follow with treatment

  • Protect leather from very humid environments as much as possible to prevent mildew. Also, avoid very dry environments to prevent leather from drying out and cracking

  • Never use preparations made for smooth leather on suede or “rough out” leather. Use only cleaners or other preparations made specifically for suede

  • Do not use waxes, silicone products, or other leather preparations that impair the ability of leather to “breathe”

  • Avoid leather preparations that contain alcohol or petroleum distillates, such as turpentine or mineral spirits

Always rely on the expertise of Klumpp’s to keep your leather goods as beautiful as the day you bought them!
